This gelding page and the "Mare" page are dedicated to our broke stock horses which are being used here, by ourselves, for daily ranch duties.
The following horses are not for sale at this time, but featured for your reference as to the potential of our breeding herd.
" Cap ", Sabre Super Scootr, 1995 bay overo gelding, Sabre Ole Thirsty x Cherokee Scooter
Above - A family friend, Cody Schock, searching for the "big ones" to heel, so he doesn't have to wrestle them when it is his turn on the ground !!
To Left: Kalee and Cap proudly carry the Saskatchewan Provincial Flag at Maple Creek's Cowtown Professional Rodeo.
(3 performances, the end of May, if you are in the area)
" Cody ", Rocken Wasp, 1979 sorrel QH gelding, Kilo Bar Wasp x Rock A Bar Baby
Cody holds a special place in Connie's heart. He arrived and joined the family before the kids were born !! He was Connie's first "start to finish" project. Say - there is a picture of Connie on a horse .... the spring of "81 there is a very pregnant woman putting the first couple of months under saddle on Cody.
Major has quite the personality. I expect he'll never be on the ' for sale ' list.
Just give him a job. From the first ride, we could have stuck any body up top.
This kind of attitude is quite common in the foals out of our stallion. We haven't found anything that picks his butt yet - and believe me Darby has searched.
Below: Darby & Major dragging a calf to the branding fire.
Glaze has also developed into one of those "good all around" ranch horses.
He pulled in his very first calf like he'd done it a thousand times before. He's 15 1/2 HH and can do it all ... except be sold ...... according to Don !!!
Glaze is stout and very athletic, with an A1 personality. He's big-hipped, big-boned and big-hearted.
Sire and Dam pages will open in a new window.
Spot is 15.3 HH. and almost to tall for Connie and her short legs. These Bonanza bred fellas make darn good usin horses.
Doesn't mind the racket Darby makes with the bull whip but does have some issues with the boogey-man on the ground sometimes .... oh well they ALL can't be perfect!
Spot & Major have two sisters saved as broodmare prospects for ourselves.
The following two horses; Cap and Cody, will never be sold .... trust me .... many have tried to be buyers!! It'll be a sad day around here when these fellas head out for "greener pastures"
Whats the "Chance" of having twins and how "Lucky" (Chance's womb mate, a mare) that both survived! They both had a pretty tough start! Chance far outgrew his sister and has developed into a 15. 2 HH stout gelding.
This big kind-eyed, breedy-looking gelding is very nice to ride - athletic and can cover ground.
He's a full brother to the geldings above and below. Gent is a long strided gelding that will get us around the place with ease. Darby's the only one tall enough to get on this guy!
NOT FOR SALE
" Gent " (but often referred to as Moose) is looking to be the tallest horse on the place. He's giving his Dam a run for her money, currently stands 16.1 HH !! A young gelding still trying to mature into his frame but when everything comes together he'll be a dandy.
Skip has a big kind eye like his brothers and really strides out too. He'll be a strong horse as he's well muscled and solidly put together at 15.1 1/2 HH.
