About Our Horse Program
It isn't unusual for a cattle ranch to have horses around, but the horses used and bred here are not just average ranch horses.
You will not find sons and daughters of last year's world champions here but you will find some very nice horses which are winners in their own right - here at the ranch as working cow or ranch horses, or in our breeding herd producing work and pleasure mounts to be valued by new owners. Horses which have strong, sturdy, well-balanced bodies and intelligent, trainable minds.
An APHA stallion, Mr Parteebuilt, is our senior sire. He is a 1992 sorrel overo; solid, sound and as one visitor said, " He has
some timber
under him."
The base of
our program;
as a breeding
stallion and siring
a number of our broodmares.
_____ Geldings & Mares _____
Young horses are started lightly as two or three year olds, when they can handle a good day's work without mental or physical setbacks. We don't ask them to be great at any one thing, but decent at everything. Time on the ranch does not allow for "an exact training schedule", which is why we value the trainablility and minds of horses produced in our program. The ranch broke gelding and mare pages feature the horses we are currently using but are not for sale. They and the prospects are for your reference to see the potential of our horse breeding program.
We are very proud of our horse program which has placed horses in the Provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Our horses have also been sold internationally to the Countries of France and the United States; Texas and California.
So whether your experience with horses is new, or you were raised in a saddle, you'll be impressed with what we offer for sale - a line of very good horses at reasonable prices.
____ Horses Offered For Sale ___
As a buyer, you can rest assured that any horses, at whatever level they are at, are presented in an honest, straight forward manner. We welcome all questions and inquiries. We want to match you up with a horse you will be happy wit. h Each year we offer part of the current foal crop for sale, along with one or two saddle horses. Remaining foals will be put under saddle, some to be sold in future years, or make their way into the broodmare band.
_____ The Mares _____
Broodmares of APHA, AQHA and JC registry are due to service from the above three stallions. Mares that have proven themselves under saddle and/or by their resulting foals. Our bloodlines have a nice balance of old foundation breeding along with the "real-life" experience of ranch performance horses. They are bred and foal on the range so the colts can grow and develop naturally.
As with many ranches, our horses have to cover alot of ground -sometimes under eratic, demanding schedules - they need substance, body, bone, and mind. Producing horses of this quality isn't easy, and it can't be done through good bloodlines alone. These are ranch horses bred and raised in a natural manner.
_____ The Stallions _____
AQHA stallion Page Mr Star Bucks covers daughters of our senior stallion, Mr Parteebuilt. This cross of bloodlines and color is clicking
nicely! Oldest offspring
are now five and three
and are very easy to
start and ride.
Freckle Face Smoke, a sorrel tovero, was added to our battery of stallions in 2011. He is a phenomenal athlete with a performance record
and is already a pro-
ven sire with progeny
earnings of over
$150,879. He has
excelled in the show-
pen at top levels of
NRCHA and Working Cow Horse venues.
_____ The Foals _____
The horses are raised out in the open, where their bodies and minds are challenged, (and they learn what a barb-wire fence is). While this is the best environment for the horses, it does create a little more work for us. Newborns are handled as soon as possible and regular visits keep the bonds intact. This way, when it's time to start them, the process begins with a calm, gentle animal that isn't afraid and is willing to learn.
